résolution imageThis is the number of pixels in an image: the resolution is calculated by multiplying the number of pixels on one line of the image by the number aligned in a column. The more pixels there are in an image, the better the quality of the image when it is enlarged, which is not the case in this example.

The 2K format designates an image that has 2,048 pixels per line and 1,080 pixels per column, i.e. about 2 million pixels per image. This is the minimum resolution chosen by the DCI for feature film images projected on large screens.

4K for its part designates an image that has 4,096 pixels per line and 2,160 pixels per column (i.e. about 8 million pixels). 4K is recommended for the largest screens.
